Rising from the ashes

One year after Hurricane Katrina in the midst after the flooding a new ship in the United States Navy is rising above them, it is called the USS New York and a large part of it is being built from steel wreckage of the World Trade Centre, the ships builders treated it with reverence often touching the ships bow as if it were an old religious relic.

700 tonnes of steal to be exact is being used from the wreck of the WTC.

Secutary of the Navy Gordon England requested to the navy they name it the USS New York LPD-21 in honour of the victims of 9/11, the name was in the reserve for a submarine but asked for special consideration and it was granted. The ship can have a crew of about 400 and about four helicopters on the flatbed type deck.

Interestlingly enough the ships moto it quote:

Never Forget

My understanding is that the States will never forget 9/11 and will never forget that they were attacked, and also another ship was in the US Navy named New York was laid down to be built on September 11th 1911 exactly ninety years before 9/11.
