can fighter pilots listen to their iPods on the job?

I remember watching the French movie Les Chevaliers Du Ciel and seeing the one scene where the character Ipod (guess where he got his call sign from) cracks out an iPod while in flight and starts up a tune while on a mission off the Libyan coast!

I know its just a movie but is it possible for real fighter pilots to do that?

In the documentary Soundtrack to War for instance the drivers of an M1A1 Abrams tank described how they could hook their CD player up to part of the tanks internal communication system (the Charlie box), now simply listening to an iPod would be a lot less complicated.

I sincerely doubt it would be possible in real life after looking at this shot of a pilot taking off in a Eurofighter Typhoon.

Good luck fitting a pair of ear phones in there, but still think about that, it would be a pretty cool thing to do!

iPod Touch controlled RX-8

Pretty impressive when you think about it especially the fact its done through Wi Fi meaning you could technically start the car from any corner of the planet!

Kinda of reminds me of the BMW 750iL from the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies that was remote controlled through his Song Ericson mobile phone.

Although if it could in fact drive the car with the WiFi that means that a ten year old Bond gadget would look hopelessly lo-tech.

'Hour of Heroes' revolutionary or awkward?

So I downloaded the Brothers in Arms Hour of Heroes game from the iTunes Store the other day for €4.99 and started to play it to see if I had gotten my money worth.

I watched the intro video doubting that the final product would have that good graphics (it did), very good graphics for a file that's only 85MB, but the controls on a touch screen were rather difficult to get used to and I have yet to get used to it as I near the end of the game.

All in all its worth every cent of the cost and I wouldn't call it brilliant but its definitely something new, the iPod Touch proves it can play games that are up to a PSP standard, not very well that is.

But still its worth the €5 unlike every other shitty JAVA mobile phone game!
