Why Pearl Harbor sucked

The movie was supposed to be brillant, but instead it has turned out to be one of the worst made movies in history, (fact), if you liked the movie then you probably know nothing about the event and were probably impressed by the CGI planes on bombing the harbour, but apart from it looking terrible we are told by Disney that it is a love story and not an accurate portral of the events on that day, and if you look closely it was very one sided on the facts for example.

  • In the movie is showed Japanese Zeros crossing the area shooting nurses in the back and bombing innocent people.

  • During the Doolittle Raid over Tokyo where the Americans used B-25's launched from the carrier the USS Hornet they seemed to be innocently bombing warehouses that would be making weapons.

The simply fact is that civilian causualties were avoided in the harbour since all they wanted to do was hit the harbour hard so that the Japaense could increase their control across the Pacific which really just meant sinking the ships in the harbour mainly battleship row.

And the other fact is during the Doolittle Raid a bomb was dropped on a high school in Tokyo that meant the deathes of 500 people in that single building which wasn't even bought up in the movie!

Other Inaccuracies that make the movie suck

These the the top five, note there are 159 total inaccuracies to date and still growing, I'm just going to list five because I don't want to annoy myself to much about how much that movie sucked.

  • The Arizona memorial that was built above the sunken Arizona to remember those lost in the attack on the battleship can be seen in the movie behind the Arizona.

  • Roosevelt claims Stalin begged him to join in World War II. This never happened. However, in the 1943 Tehran Conference, Stalin did press both Roosevelt and Churchill to open a second front.

  • In the attack, a sailor is shown jumping clear of a falling battleship "tripod" main mast. No battleship lost a tripod mast in such a manner. Not even in the sinking of the USS Oklahoma, which capsized, did a mast fall in such a way as shown in the film.

  • P-40 and Zero fighters are shown doing tight maneuvers and incredibly dangerous stunts, almost like those fighters from Star Wars. Although the Zero was nimble and was the most feared fighter of the Pacific War until the F6F Hellcat debuted in 1943, the P-40 was not able to "dog-fight" with the Zero.

  • Affleck and Hartnett's characters are shown taking part in the Doolittle bombing raid over Tokyo in which, as fighter pilots, they would not have been allowed to participate.

So if you haven't seen the movie I would suggest that you never watch it, its over 100 minutes of your life that could be spent doing something else.
